On 16 June 1553 he was one of the peers who signed the settlement of the Corwn on Lady Jane Grey, although he then took part in the proclamation of Queen Mary. He was a Commissioner to treat for the Queen's marriage to King Philip of Spain on 1 January 1553/54. He held the office of High Steward of Cambridge University between August 1554 and 1563. He held the office of Envoy to the Emperor in November 1554, and to conduct Cardinal Pole to England. He was Commissioner for the peace between King Charles V, Philip and France in May 1555. He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 29 January 1556 and 1558. He held the office of Ambassador to the Emperor at Brussels in April 1556.

2 (1) Henry Paget, 2nd Lord Paget (of Beaudesert) (b. c 1537, d. 28 Dec 1568) married Katherine Knyvett, daughter of Sir Henry Knyvett and Anne Pickering, on 20 May 1567 at West Drayton, London, England. He was buried at West Drayton, London, England. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) before 29 September 1553. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Arundel in 1555. 2.1 (2) Elizabeth Paget, Lady Paget of Beaudesert (b. Aug 1568, d. 29 Jun 1570) died at age 1. She succeeded to the title of Lady Paget of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 28 December 1568, suo jure, although it is questionable whether this title was inheritable by heirs general, or by heirs male only.
3 (1) Thomas Paget, 3rd Lord Paget (of Beaudesert) (b. c 1544, d. bt Jan 1590 - 7 Aug 1590) married Nazareth Newton, daughter of Sir John Newton and Margaret Poyntz, after 1568. He died at Brussels, Belgium. He matriculated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, on 27 May 1559. He was admitted to Middle Temple on 24 May 1561 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 29 June 1570. In November 1583 he was a zealous Papist, and fell under suspicion of being concerned in plots in favour of Mary, Queen of Scots, and so fled to Paris. Between 1584 and 1587 his extradation from France was refused by the King of France, and he worked on behalf of Mary from Paris, Madrid and Rome. In March 1586/87 he was attainted for treason, and his Barony forfeited.
3.1 (2) William Paget, 4th Lord Paget (of Beaudesert) (b. 1572, d. 29 Aug 1628) married Lettice Knollys, daughter of Henry Knollys and Margaret Cave, before 19 June 1602. He died at West Drayton, London, England. He was buried on 30 August 1628 at West Drayton, London, England. On 27 February 1586/87 after his grandmother's death, the Queen made him a ward of Sir George Carey. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 31 July 1587. He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 25 February 1589/90 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) In 1596 he served on the Cadiz expedition. In 1598 he was with Sir Robert Cecil, the English Ambassador in Paris. He succeeded to the title of 4th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 19 March 1603/4, after he had his father's attainder reversed, and his land and titles restored. He was admitted to Middle Temple on 20 February 1610/11 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law. On 12 March 1611/12 he was a member of the Council of the Virginia Company, and was actively engaged in promoting colonisation and colonial trade.

3.1.4 (3) (by Lettice Knollys) Sir William Paget, 5th Lord Paget (of Beaudesert) (b. 13 Sep 1609, d. 19 Oct 1678) married Lady Frances Rich, daughter of Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland and Isabel Cope, on 28 June 1632 at Kensington, London, England. He died at Old Palace Yard, Westminster, London, England. He was buried on 7 November 1678 at West Drayton, London, England. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 1 February 1625/26. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 18 December 1627. He succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 29 August 1628. In September 1640 he was one of the popular nobles named by the King to treat with the Scots at Ripon. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire on 2 June 1641. He held the office of Keeper of New Lodge Walk, Windsor Forest on 9 February 1642. In June 1642 he joined the King at York, and raised a regiment of foot which fought at Edgehill. In 1643/44 he was with the King at Oxford. In September 1644 he 'came in' to the Earl of Essex at Plymouth.

3.1.4.3 (4) William Paget, 6th Lord Paget (of Beaudesert) (b. 10 Feb 1637, d. 26 Feb 1712/13) married, firstly, Frances Pierrepont on 20 July 1661.1 He married, secondly, Isabella Irby, daughter of Sir Anthony Irby and Hon. Katherine Paget (see above). He died at age 76 at Bloomsbury Square, London, England. He was buried on 20 March 1712/13 at St. Gile's-in-the-Fields Church, London, England. He succeeded to the title of 6th Lord Paget, of Beaudesert [E., 1549] on 19 October 1678. He held the office of Ambassador to Vienna between 1689 and 1692. He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire between 1689 and 1713. He held the office of Ambassador to Constantinople between 1692 and 1702.
