Partner Vincent Weyand
Chris Dekker (1922-1996) was extremely versatile: violinist, poet, draughtsman, amateur architect, New Testament scholar, philologist and mythologist. In the 1940s he was the partner of Vincent Weyand, who died in WWII.
El Gran Bal describes the special life and friendships of Dekker, a Dutchman, who found and continued to keep his spiritual homeland in Europe, even when he had discovered his human fulfillment in the highlands of Mexico, where he lived from 1969 until shortly before his death in 1996, started a family and provided development aid on a private basis. Dekker has made great efforts to improve the poor living conditions of the Mayan Indians. In 1974 he became doctor h.c. of the University of Chiapas.
