Edwin D. Hewitt (January 23, 1908 - June, 1983) was born in New York City. In the 1940s he and his brother Christian lived with their mother Parish Wainwright. A graduate of Princeton Class of 1930, he was a friend of Paul Cadmus; his eponymous gallery on Manhattan’s Upper East Side displayed the work of the Magic Realists throughout the 1950s. Robert Isaacson became an art dealer almost by accident, taking on Edwin Hewitt's gallery at the request of mutual friend Lincoln Kirstein.
