Henry A. Gordon (July 15, 1947 – November 29, 1993) held a degree in sociology from the George Washington University, a master's degree in sociology from the University of North Carolina, and a doctorate in the same discipline from the University of Maryland. He worked for Radio Free Europe, spending a year as a public opinion researcher in Munich, for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights from 1978-1983, and for the U.S. Department of Education beginning in 1984 as a statistician in the department's National Center for Education Statistics, where he worked with information regarding the Office of Civil Rights. Gordon was a member of both the American Sociological Association and the Association of Applied Sociology.
