Olga von Roeder (June 12, 1886 - July 11, 1963) came from a US-American actor family and
was descendant of the Texas settler Albrecht von Roeder. In 1917 she met
Claire Waldoff in Berlin. She was her partner until her death. "We both
had the big draw together," Waldoff wrote in her memoirs, "Olly is a
rarer, louder character, a wonderful person." The couple was a hub of
lesbian life in Berlin in the 1920s. Von Roeder and Waldoff conducted a
cultural-political salon for the exchange of ideas among lesbians, were
popular guests in the lesbian nightlife.
