Ricky Renée (September 3, 1929 as Jack Gilbert Renner[1] – October 29, 2017[2] in Nuremberg, Germany) was an American actor and drag artist.
At the age of twelve, Ricky left Indiana and moved to Florida. At the age of 14 he went to New York, where he worked as a dance teacher, elevator operator and in cabarets. In addition, he studied acting with Katherine Dunham and stood for several years in the "Jewel Box" as an entertainer on stage. Eventually, he put together his own show, for which he wrote the choreography, designed and sewed all the costumes, and conducted his orchestra. In one of these shows he was finally engaged by a show producer from London[1], from where an international show career began. Ricky Renée appeared in the following years with Ella Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker and Jayne Mansfield, all of whom he imitated on stage, and made guest appearances with his show in Paris, Vienna, Rome and along the Côte d'Azur. Renner was buried in March 2018 in Frankfurt am Main. [3]
