Wilbur Wegener (June 6, 1922 – August 26, 2002) was an early
LGBT historian was a member of several LGBT
rights organizations, including the Mattachine Society; Mandrake Society; and
One, Incorporated in the 1950s and 1960s.
He was also an amateur photographer who spent three decades capturing candid images of the LGBT community. Sadly, when he died in 2002 at age 80, Wegener's family destroyed many of his photographs and negatives. (Courtesy of Scott Lokitz.)
