Angelo Della Mura (Maiori , December 16, 1867 - Maiori , January 31, 1922) was an Italian painter. Reading Lord Ronald Gower's Old Diaries 1881-1901 is an amusing exercise in reading between the lines. He not only met everybody who was anybody, Benjamin Disraeli, Carlyle, Newman, Renan, cardinales and popes, he also met a lot of people who do not appear in the Index. There is the young poet, Percy Pinkerton, an English master at the Armenian College in Venice; or "my artist friend, John O'Connor", or "a young Neapolitan landscape painter, Angelo della Mura, one of whose clever landscapes had attracted me at an exhibition in Naples. He lives with his uncle, also a painter". Together they went over to Capri.
Angelo Della Mura studies in Maiori with the uncle, Gaetano Capone, and later attended courses at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. He mainly painted the seascapes of the Amalfi Coast,[2] also dedicating himself to portrait and genre painting.[3] He exhibited his first important picture, entitled My dowry, at the Neapolitan Promoter of 1885.[1][4] Of particular value is his painting entitled Hanno appetito, presented at the Milanese exhibition in 1886.[2]
