Queer Places:
Du Pont de Nemours Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, USA,

Sophie Madeleine DuPont (September 18, 1810 - January 9, 1888) was the daughter of Eleuthere Irenee DuPont (1771–1834) and Sophie Madeline Dalmas (1775–1828). Eliza Schlatter wrote to her friend Sophie DuPont in 1834, “I wish I could be with you present in the body as well as the mind & heart—I would turn your good husband out of bed—and snuggle into you and we would have a long talk like old times.”

Sophie Dupont married her fist cousin Admiral Samuel Francis DuPont (1803–1865).

She died at her home in Wilmington, Delaware. She had been ill but a few days and her death was unexpected. She was seventy-eight years old.
